The City of Amsterdam’s website has been updated with the addition of six introductory web videos which will launch today. The video tour book spotlights our main attractions, opportunities and amenities: quality of life, real estate and relocation services, education, health care and senior services, and business/industry. The videos may be accessed on the lower right hand quadrant of the City’s home page: www.amsterdamny.gov
Since its beginnings in 2009, the website has served residents and visitors as an important online tool, fielding the interest of 3,000 new visitors a month. City Hall and departmental information is available, as are tax/utility payment schedules, permit & licensing forms, economic development resources, news updates, a photo gallery, the community events calendar and more.
To make comments or suggestions, please contact the Mayor’s office at 841-4311.

One of the happiest things I heard this year was the fact that the Parks would be open this year.

The parks we once took for granted as always being there took a hit this year when the state planned on closing numerous parks and historical sites. They have never been closed, even during the great depression, and have always been an outlet for people to enjoy this great state.
And while the confidence that they will always be open is gone, and we can no longer be certain of their future, we now have the opportunity to enjoy them once again, and to let the workers and volunteers know how much we appreciate them in our lives.
Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site is running their 18th annual summertime storytelling series, ‘Not Just for Kids’, on Sundays.
The remaining schedule includes:
August 15- Onawumi Jean Moss – Precious Memories: Stories of love and life, then and now
August 22- Judith Black – That Fading Sent: A Seditious Comedy about
August 29- Nancy Payne – It Happened Right Here!: From Paul Bunyan passing through, to Tories getting out, to adventurers settling in: stories from New York State-fact, fiction and fancy.
