The public is invited to an opening reception for a juried exhibition of
regional artists’ work on Friday, December 4 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the
Arkell Museum and the Canajoharie Library at 2 Erie Blvd, Canajoharie.
The work of 23 local artists will be on display through January 31,
2010.
Pieces in the 2009 Arkell Annual Juried Art Show were selected by
Michelle Murdock, Curator of Exhibitions at the Fenimore Art Museum and
The Farmers’ Museum, Cooperstown, NY.

Work by the following artists will appear in the 2009 show: Debi
Angilletta and Betty Pieper of Scotia; Matthew Bartik of Patersonville;
Laurie Greenbaum Beitch of Niskayuna; Debra Carpenter and Robin
Rosenthal of Schenectady; Mother Elisabeth Czwikla of Mohawk; Jennifer
DesJardins of Gloversville; John Elliott of Glenville; Linda Hinkle,
Lynda Naske, and Lynne Sweet of Johnstown; Andre Jones of Fort Plain;
Linda Kollar of Fultonville; Marion Kratky of Northville; Michael Naso
of Cooperstown; Fritzie Paine and Ginny Pugliese of New York; Philip
Palmieri of Loudonville; James Schwabach of Ilion; Nina Stanley of
Albany; Lynne Vokatis of Amsterdam; and Angeline Williams of Palatine
Bridge.
“Each juried art show is unique,” said Andy Albertson, the Curator of
Education and Public Programs at the Arkell Museum and Chair of the
Community Gallery Committee. “The range of media and the rich
interpretation of the real and surreal aspects of life make every show a
microcosm of the contemporary art world. We are thrilled to display the
work of these twenty-three exceptionally talented artists.”
Admission to the Community Galleries in the Arkell Museum and
Canajoharie Library is free, as is the December 4 opening reception.
