A Night of Comedy, featuring nationally-touring comedians, returns on Saturday, March 6 to benefit the Montgomery County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MCSPCA).
This 3rd annual fund-raising event will be held at The Elks Club on Fourth Avenue in Amsterdam. Doors will open at 6:30 pm with complimentary appetizers, cash bar and raffles. The performance, appropriate for an over-18 crowd, begins at 8 pm.
Vinnie Mark returns to serve as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies for this triple headliner show, which will include his wife and partner Jodi Weiner. Owner of the Saratoga Comedy Club, Mark has been performing comedy and magic for the past 20 years. He has opened for Kevin James, Ray Romano, Gilbert Godfried and many others. Mark has appeared in Las Vegas, Reno and Atlantic City, among many other nationally known venues. Weiner has also appeared nationally at locations such as at Caesars Resorts, Catch a Rising Star and Caroline’s, and has performed several shows for US troops overseas. Both she and Mark headlined the first A Night of Comedy in 2008 to a sold-out crowd. A third surprise comedian will round out the evening’s entertainment.
Tickets are $25 per person in advance and are available at the MCSPCA Animal Shelter on Route 5S during regular open hours, and from any MCSPCA board member. Tickets are also available at Old Peddlers Wagon on Church Street and Cork Hill Wine and Liquors on Kellogg Street, both in Amsterdam, as well as at Loopie’s Pub in Tribes Hill, or call Jan at 842-7022. A limited number of tickets will be available, and any remaining tickets will be sold at the door on the evening of the performance for $30 per person. A Night of Comedy sold out in advance in both 2008 and 2009, so early purchase of tickets is strongly encouraged.
This special fund-raiser will benefit the MCSPCA’s New Animal Shelter Building Fund. Land for the brand-new animal shelter facility has already been acquired on Amsterdam’s South Side, and efforts are now focused on raising funds for the planning and construction of the building.
The Montgomery County SPCA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of homeless, abandoned, neglected and abused animals in the Montgomery County area. Funded primarily by public donations, the MCSPCA appreciates public support of events such as A Night of Comedy.
