Avoid the malls, support local artists, and get all your holiday shopping done in one shot. “Impossible,” you say? Not if you drop by the Arkell Museum and Canajoharie Library’s third annual Holiday Arts & Craft Fair.
Many artisans from the past two years’ successful shows will return this year offering original art and prints, children’s toys, note cards, ornaments, wreaths, wool wearables, maple products, jams, jewelry and more.
The Palatine Literary Society will offer a delicious lunch and baked goods with the proceeds benefiting its high school scholarship fund.
In addition to a hands-on ornament workshop, families are invited to visit the Arkell Museum’s new exhibit, Water Wick: Games, Gizmos and Toys in the Attic, which features photographs and models from the popular I Spy and Can You See What I See? children’s books. A special holiday-inspired storytelling will take place in the exhibition at 1pm.
The Canajoharie Library Winter Used Book sale features thousands of used books, movies, music, and a great selection of children’s books. All proceeds benefit the Canajoharie Library.
Admission to the Arkell Museum Holiday Fair and museum galleries is free with a suggested $2 donation at the door. Members and Children ages 11 and under are free.
For more information on Holiday Fair participating vendors please call (518) 673-2314.

Thanks for the info. I’ll be there for sure. I firmly believe in shopping local as much as possible and I have found that people appreciate presents so more than when you just grab something at Wal Mart.
Absolutely. There are so many great shops around here, with a lot of focus on local artists, too. These gifts are always a hit in my family.
We must support our local business, these have been hard times for them and people forget these business contribute to our area in so many ways.
Where else do you gift shop locally? I need to go buy some toys for some more toy drives going on in the area. Anyone have any suggestions of shops and/or toys?
