camppat2Camp Pattersonville, in Pattersonville NY, is getting ready for the next season of campers this weekend.  Saturday and Sunday will be the opening day weekend, where camp personnel and volunteers will be unboarding the buildings and getting things in order for the summer.  Those interested in helping are welcome to come between 10 and 2 on Saturday June 13th.

The Open House will be held on June 15th, where anyone who has not been to the camp before can stop by and check it out, and anyone who has been before can stop by to say ‘Hi” to some old friends.  Open House will be from 4:30 to 8 pm, and there will be a small craft for the kids, along with a campfire and marshmallows, and hotdogs starting at 5 pm.

camppat1If you haven’t signed up yet, its not too late.  There is no cutoff date for registration, but earlier signups have a better chance of getting the requested date.

Camp Pattersonville is an 6 day overnight Christian camp for children ages 7-12.  There are activities all day long, and Director Dan says, “There is no time for the kids to be bored.”   The days are filled with crafts, swimming, games and lessons. Each child does a woodworking project, and there is also archery,  and sometimes a carnival available. All the kids also learn how to cook their own breakfast over on open fire.  The older kids also go on a short hike, and camp out under the stars near a pond, which is greatcamppat3 for fishing and has canoes available for going out on the water.

Director Dan at the camp explained that the purpose of Camp Pattersonville is twofold.  The first is to teach the kids about the bible, and what it says, and to be able to read the bible for themselves.  The second is how to be saved.  “We know there is a God, their is a Designer – we know we are guilty in His sight, but the bible can explain how to go to Heaven, how to please God and how to be saved.” says Director Dan.

camppat4The third goal, as Director Dan puts it, is the kids goal.  To have fun.  The teachings at Camp Pattersonville teaches the kids that the Bible can be interesting and fun.

Camp Pattersonville is located on Route 160 (Scotch Church Rd) just off of Route 5S in Pattersonville.  For more information and camper forms visit their site at www.camppattersonville.org
