Canjo May Lose Youth Program

For nearly 65 years the Community Youth Center, Inc. of Canajoharie has been a haven for local children.

Today, the future of that haven is in jeopardy.  They have never faced a fiscal crisis like the one currently before them.  The Center’s summer program, which provides services to more than one hundred youths from five municipalities, is in serious danger of being canceled.  As of this moment, there are zero funds being allocated by the State of New York for Youth Delinquency Prevention Programs, thus leaving the Center with a potential $20,000 budget deficit.

It is because there is a strong need to provide the children in our communities with life-enriching, affordable programming in a safe environment that they are coming to you, hat-in-hand, asking for help.  The importance of these programs cannot be stressed enough.  Without them, many children will be home, alone, for long periods of time, while others will look for diversions in their neighborhoods, with less-than-desirable outcomes.  This year, the Center is asking to put the needs of the children first and support the summer program by becoming a Summerfest Sponsor.

Donations are tax-deductable, and can be mailed to The Community Youth Center, Inc. PO Box 33, Canajoharie, NY 13317, dropped of at the Center at 7-9 Erie Boulevard (across from the Arkell Museum and Canajoharie Library) or on-line through a secure server (see below).

A sponsorship of $100.00 will help defray the cost of a trip taking during the program to help ensure every child has a chance to participate.

A sponsorship of $30.00 will help defray the cost of an individual to help make sure every child will be able to participate in the program.

Any size donation can be made, and will be greatly appreciated by the staff, the community, and most importantly, the children who would not have the program without your help.

And, of course, all donations are tax deductible.
