The Baseball Hall of Fame announced its line-up for its inaugural “Classic”’ being held on June 21 ( Father’s Day), at Doubleday Field.
Pitcher Bob Feller is one of five Hall of Famers who will participate in the seven- inning exhibition, and the 90-year-old will actually be the starting pitcher for one of the teams.
Ferguson Jenkins, Paul Molitor, Phil Niekro and Brooks Robinson will also play in the Classic, which will have its rosters filled in over the upcoming weeks, said Jeff Idelson, the Hall’s president.
The rest of the players will be former major leaguers, with over 20 already signed up to play including former Most Valuable Player George Foster, reliever Lee Smith, and former pitchers Steve Rogers, Jim Kaat and Bill Lee.
The game will start at 2PM. The annual Cooperstown Parade will be at 12 noon, and a hitting contest at Doubleday field with former major league players at 1PM. There will be other events as well, so bring the whole family!
