The Village of Fort Plain will host 2009’s Tri-Village Last Night New Year’s Eve Celebration on December 31 beginning at noon and continuing until 12:30AM on January 1, 2010. Events for all ages will be held at different times and at different locations throughout the village and include:
Merchant’s Association Scavenger Hunt beginning at Save-a-Lot. 12:00 – 6:00. Prizes awarded. Free for children under 12 years of age.
Chili Supper at Sweet’s Bed & Breakfast, 4:30 – 7:30. $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children, ages 5 – 10.
Vesper Service, Fort Plain Reformed Church, 5:00 – 6:00. Free.
Hayrides, Village business district. Begins at Fort Plain True Value. 6:00 – 9:00. Free
Fort Plain Choir, Fort Plain High School. 7:00-8:00.
Stone Soup, Fort Plain Museum. 7:00 – 10:00.
Dave Hazzard & the Country Strings, Elks’ Lodge. 8:30 – 11:30.
Roland Vinyard, The Bard Rocks, Fort Plain Free Library. 6:00 – 7:30 and 8:00 – 9:30.
Cronkhite/Miller/Davern Trio, Fort Plain Senior Center. 8:30 – 11:30.
Micky Boslet on guitar, Fort Plain VFW. 6:00-10:00.
Comedians Carole Deyoe and John Briggs, Fort Plain High School. PG 13. 9:00 – 10:30.
Gary Van Slyke, Happy Clown Nursery School. 6:00 – 7:00 and 7:30 – 8:30.
Stories, Cotton Candy, and Popcorn, Fort Plain True Value. Free. 7:00 – 8:30.
Dance with DJ, Fort Plain High School. 9:00–11:30.
Chris and Jocelyn Arndt, Fort Plain United Methodist Church. 8:00 – 9:00.
Open House at the Fort Plain Fire House. 7:00 – 12:00. Free.
Mini Times Square, Town Clock. Countdown to midnight with DJ Wayne Tucker. 10:30 PM – 12:15 AM.
Admission into all events unless otherwise noted will be possible with an all-access commemorative button that costs $5.00 for adults and $1.00 for children. Admission to each event, without the button, will be $8.00 at the door.
“We are hoping to provide our community and its guests with a varied, enjoyable evening of music and merriment,” said event coordinator Jim Katovich. “In effect, admission into any of the entertainment venues can be had for $5.00, a good deal by any standards.” To find out where to purchase an all-access pass or for further information, please contact the village office at (518) 993-4271.

Sounds like fun but there doesn’t seem like there’s much for children to do.
Gary Van Slyke is a great performer for kids, and storytime at True Value. What age kids are you looking to bring?

10 years old, he’s in that inbetween age.
Stone Soup is a good G-Rated Band, and Mickey Boslet will be in the social quarters of the VFW, not the bar area. And the scavenger hunt should be fun for him. I don’t know DJ Wayne Tucker, but if they have him at the clocktower, he should be family friendly for sure.
