The Caroga Historical Museum has released their schedule of events for this summer, starting with a special Opening Day on Sunday, June 28th, 2009.
Opening day festivities will be happening from 1-4pm with an ice cream social, children’s games, popcorn, demonstrations and live oxen.
Be sure to stop by the Adirondack Trappers Exhibit, a cooperative effort with the Adirondack Museum of Blue Mountain Lake, featuring the legendary Nick Stoner and French Louie.
Other activities this summer are:
July 9th, 7pm: “Remembering Nick Stoner” with speaker Don Williams
July 16th, 10-3pm: Workshop-Beading with Joanne Clark. Bring Lunch and $20 for materials. Class limited to 15.
July 18th, 10-4pm: Craft Show-Crafters, Bake Sale, Food, & Demonstrations. Music by the Durey Creek Blue Grass Band.
July 23th, 10-3pm: Workshop-Basket Weaving with Eileen Wrightsman. Bring shears, measuring tape, clothespins, awl, small tub and pencil. Bring lunch and $15 for materials. Class limited to 12.
July 30th, 10-3pm: Workshop-Watercolor Painting with Ellen Panero. Bring lunch and own supplies. Class limited to 12.
August 1st, 7-9pm: Concert-”The Swing Docs” Professionals from the Albany Medical Center who play Swing, Big Band and Rock selections. Performance at Adirondack Paradise, St. Hwy 29A & 10, Pine Lake. Advance tickets $8, at the door $10.
August 6th, 10-12pm: Workshop-Painting Berries on Porcelain with Catherine Graves. Bring lunch and $12 for materials. Class limited to 6.
August 13th, 10-3pm: Workshop-Beginner’s Genealogy with Cathy Ossenfort. Cost of workshop $10
August 14, 7-9pm: Concert-”Christopher Shaw” Adirondack folk singer and story teller. Performance at Caroga Historical Museum. Admission: Adults $5.00, under 16 free.
August 20: 10-3pm: Workshop-Painting Brown-eyed Susans on Porcelain with Dottie Peck. Bring lunch and $12 for materials. Class limited to 6.
August 22, 7-9pm: Concert-”Captain Squeeze and the Zydeco Moshers” Lively group featuring Cajun music. Performance at Adirondack Paradise, St. Hwy 29A & 10, Pine Lake. Advance tickets $8, at the door $10.
*Concerts are made possible in part by public funds from the Decentralization Program of the New York State Council on the Arts, administered through the Tri County Arts Council.
*Workshops are $20.00 for Museum members and $25 for non-members, except genealogy which is $10.
