674327_sketchThere’s still time to sign up for the remaining classes being hosted by the Walter Elwood Museum this fall!  Their instructors this Fall are some of the best and most popular Summer Camp 2009 Instructors and the classes they have planned are unique, new and related to their educational mission and varied collection.

Nature Detectives- with Mary Ann Delaney
Become a Nature Detective with animal artist, Mary Ann Delaney. Learn to see what wonderful plants and animal sights and sounds we have in our own area and back yards. Make your very own sketchbook/journal and see if you can discover anything new to you as we embark on a journey through the eyes of a nature detective. Students will be going outdoors so have appropriate outside attire depending on the weather.


Wednesday, November 11, 2009 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Paper Weaving & Paper Fans-with Suzanna Schoonhoven Hunter
Students will look at a variety of fans in our museum collection including- Victorian, vintage and fans from around the world. Students will identify the variety of materials that can be used to create a fan. A brief lesson on the history of fan for both cooling needs and social needs will be explained. Students will also view a variety of woven textiles including fans. Students will make their own fan and create their own woven piece of art to cherish!
