The Wing Fling is being held a the Veterans of Foreign Wars 20 Third Ave, Gloversville.

Admission is a donation of $1.50, includes container, celery, dip, and a live DJ!

Chicken Wings $6.00/dozen, $0.50 Each

All funds raised from this event will sponsor the GHS “American Pride Day 2010″

1020098_weve_got_a_winnerThe Bleecker Snow Rovers will be hosting a Poker Run this weekend. This charity event is to raise money for local fire departments and various benefits throughout the year.

The run will start at the Bleecker Fish and Game Club, 1110 State Highway 309 in Gloversville with registration from 9-12am.

There will be trophies, raffles and lots of fun!

Brennan Humane Society Tree Lighting Ceremony

The Brennan Humane Society will be hosting a Tree Lighting Ceremony this year on December 11th. You can make a $5.00 donation in the name of a current or lost pet. A light will be placed on the tree and an ornament with the pets name will hang in the shelter from December 11th through January 1st.

You can also stop by the Shelter and visit the many cats and dogs looking for a home for the holidays. Bring your pet in to have a picture with “Santa Paws” for only a $5.00 donation. Visit with the staff and enjoy some refreshments.

Holiday Kickoffs

Tree Lighting Ceremonies:

Gloversville – Friday November 27th at 4pm on Main Street at the Historic 4 Corners.

Fonda - Sunday, November 29th at 6pm on Main Street at the Village Tree.

Holiday Train

The CP Rail Holiday Train will arrive in Delanson on Sunday, November 29th at 6pm.

Holiday Parade

Broadalbin’s Annual Holiday Parade will be held Monday, November 30th at 6pm

Johnstown’s 7th Annual Holiday Parade

Friday, November 20th 2009 at 7pm

825650_familyThe City of Johnstown will have the 7th Annual Holiday Parade as an early kickoff to the holiday season tomorrow night. This year the parade route will be starting on Madison Avenue and ending at South Chase Street, and the parade will be a Disney Theme.

Each year the parade attempts to raise money for the area with fundraising, donations and entry fees in the parade. The proceeds are used for Johnstown and Gloversville school districts to help defray the cost of field trips for less fortunate students.

Open Doors at the Y

The Fulton County YMCA is welcoming all area children during these Thanksgiving break days, where their parents may still be working.

These days are open to all members and non-members and will have arts and crafts, games, swimming, time in the gym and get to play outdoors.

Pitch Tournament

1208802_king_2The Gloversville Women of the Moose will be hosting a $500.00 Pitch Tournament at 11 am sharp. $5.00 per person to sign up. Please sign up by Friday 10/16/09. The History of Baseball in Fulton County

bat2The Fulton County Museum has an ongoing display documenting the History of Baseball in Fulton County.  This display ends in October, so if you haven’t made it to this informative and educational display yet, you should go soon! The Fulton County Museum is located at 237 Kingsboro Ave, Gloversville.  Displays being coordinated with the Fulton-Montgomery Sports Historical Society.  See Fulton County’s rich baseball history and its connections to professional baseball at the Major League level. Admission is free.

Sock Hop in Gloversville

SockHopThe Gloversville Moose Lodge 349 will be hosting a Sock Hop / Barbecue. $10.00 per person. Food will be served at 3pm and the entertainment will begin at 4pm. This is open to all Moose members and guests. There will be 50/50 raffles along with a lottery basket raffle.

The Loyal Order of Moose is a fraternal and service organization founded in 1888, with nearly 1 million men in roughly 2,000 Lodges, in all 50 states and four Canadian provinces, plus Great Britain and Bermuda. The Moose is dedicated to caring for young and old, brining communities closer together and celebrating life.
