The following list was collected from the different village offices. Trick-or-treat is during the hours listed, at houses where outside lights are lit.

Tri County Art Grant Seminars

1008885_oil_color_on_paletteThe Tri-County Arts Council (administrative offices at 108 Union St., Cobleskill) has released the dates of the remaining DEC grant seminars. These informational seminars are mandatory for any individual artist or group considering applying for a NYSCA decentralization grant.  These grants have been awarded to many local organizations and have help make events such as The Blenheim Bridge Artwalk, Mettawee River Theatre and Colonial Family Field Days at the Old Fort Johnson possible.

The October Seminar Dates are:

October 8, Middleburgh Library, 3232 Main St. Middleburgh 6:30PM

October 10, Centro Civico, 143 East Main St. Amsterdam 1:30PM

October 14, Johnstown Public Library, 308 So. Market St. Johnstown 6:00PM

Fall 2009 Adirondack Outdoorsman Show

adkshowTwin Cities Sports Promotions announces plans for the Fall 2009 Adirondack Outdoorsman Show & Exposition, to take place at the Johnstown Moose Club Grounds on Saturday September 12th (10am-6pm) & Sunday September 13th (9am-6pm). The Grounds are located at 109 South Comrie Avenue / Route 30A North in Johnstown (just 5 minutes from NYS Thruway Exit 28).

The show will be geared towards the tastes of Hunters, Fisherman, Boaters and Outdoors Enthusiasts. Exhibits containing items for sale pertaining to: hunting & fishing gear/supplies, guns, fly fishing, archery, trapping, boating, camping, hiking, snow shoeing, guides & charter services, taxidermy, snowmobiling, 4-Wheeling, collectible knives, antique hunting & fishing gear, wildlife art & books and Adirondack Furniture. The show has been expanded to include many new vendors & activities spread throughout the club’s grounds which will include a Trout Pond, Rock Climbing Wall, Seminar Tents (seminar schedule to be announced), Ax & Knife Throwing Demonstrations (and learn how to do it yourself), and several other events/competitions (to be announced).
In addition, many featured guests and industry experts are scheduled to be on hand throughout the weekend.   (more…)

Rat Pack Car Show

muscleThe Amsterdam Rat Pack and Checkers Out Speedway present the Rat Pack Car Show. There will be music, food, a 50/50 raffle, goodie bags and a Chinese Auction.
Registration only $8 per vehicle. Registration cutoff is 1pm.
Raindate June 28th
They will be awarding Top 25 Trophies and have Dash Plaques for 1st 50 entries.
All cars, trucks and bikes welcome!
Proceeds to benefit local Hospice.

The Second Annual Motorcycles on Main Street held in Johnstown, NY will be on August 13th, 2009 with a raindate of August 20th.

FM’s 16th Annual Golf Classic

What could be better than a terrific day of golf, knowing your participation is helping to support and increase scholarships for our local students, enhance our community college’s teaching and learning facilities, expand cultural enrichment of our region, and fund academic healthcare facilities?  If you can’t think of anything, then FM’s 16th Annual Golf Classic is for you!

The tournament is held at Hales Mills Country Club in Johnstown.  It begins with a luncheon at 11 am and a shotgun start at 12 pm.  The donation of $125 includes lunch, green fees and cart, special giveaways and dinner at the Hales Mills Clubhouse.  The foursomes with Low Net and Low Gross scores will receive prizes along with winners of the closest to the pin contests, men’s longest drive, ladies longest drive, and straightest drive.

Anyone wishing to become a sponsor, register for golf or reserve space for the tournament dinner is asked to contact the Foundation of FMCC Office at 762-4651 x 3701.
